Exploding Pop Out Card - So Bright & Cheery

 Hi Crafters

New week, new post.

Today we have an Exploding Pop-Out card, I loves these so much when I first saw them on YouTube I  made several, and then proceeded to make the cutest diddy version of them for my own Christmas cards.

Todays version is the standard card and for this I will give you the measurements and items that you need, but you will have to check out a video on YouTube for the folds as describing them on paper would not be easy for you to follow.

You need:

2 pieces A4 card

1 piece of 12 x 12

1 piece of A4 paper to coordinate

A4 card

Cut 1 piece 12” x 6” and score at 5,5&1/8, 10&1/8 ,10&1/4, 10&3/8

Cut 1 piece 10” x 3&7/8 Score @ 5”

For the steps cut      1 – 2 x 2.5 score @ ¼”, 1.5”, 2 1/4”

                        1 – 2.5 x 2&3/4” score @ ¼”, 1 ¼”,  2.5”

                        1 -  3” x 3” score @ ¼” 1.5” 2&3/4”

Patterned paper

Cut 2 pieces 6 x 10”

Cut 2 pieces 5&3/4 x 1&3/8

Cut 1 5&3/4” x 4” for the front cover

2  Velcro dots to hold the flap down

With the 12 x 6 piece fold the scored lines and smooth over to allow a curve at the top of the card as this hold the bulk.

Next take the patterned pieces and fold in half with the pattern inside, and the seam to the right, Unfold and mark the seam lines to push into a mountain fold.

Take the R bottom corner and fold it over to meet the other side making a clean point. Go over with bone folder

Now put your piece onto a lined mat and fold back to the 2” from the Right. Fold back again 1” and then the last base piece back by 1 inch

Unfold and starting with a mountain fold in the middle work to the side Fold down flat and go over with bone folder

With the curve at the seam of the card glue a section each side of the base card, then once you are happy with it lined up glue the top side and fold down the card to secure it to the top of the card

Make the steps for the centre card by putting tape to all the end ¼” flaps

Start with the 3” piece put the centre fold to centre fold take off the base piece of tape and secure then food the step back down and making sure it is straight take off the top tape. With the second step line, the wider section goes to the bottom step line up evenly, take the top tape off this time secure it to the page and then take off the base tape. Line up the top step and do the same as the bottom step.

Decorate the steps before gluing into the card

Decorate the front of the card and flap adding the 2 velcro dots at the end

It takes a little time but is worth it

Here is the finished card folded. As you can see I have not finished the front but I will add something appropriate when I know who I am sending it too.

Happy Crafting

Dee
