Craft Fair Show & Tell Journals and Journal Pins

 Show & Tell Item No6

Journals & Journal Pins

As well as the  Junk Journals shown in my last post I will be selling plainer journals that can be used as notebook album and journal. These all have laminated covers and have 2 main signatures inside with some added tags and embellishments ready to enhance your journaling.

The books are finished with elastic binding allowing the signatures to be slipped in. This also enables them to be removed and new pages added if you wish to renew the contents and continue using the journal.

There is an elastic strap in the middle that pulls over the book to hold it all together nicely when carrying it around. I have hung some danglies from elastic on the spines to give some bling as I have not added any labels or embellishments to the front, preferring to let the pretty papers stand out and the buyer to name/label the journal if they wish.

These journals I will be selling for £8.50 each or 2 for £15

The last items for sale in the Journal/Book section are the Journal pins.

I have a lovely collection of them available for the show. The clips I have range from simple decorated cloths pins to heavier clips that can be used as Bag Embellishments or Journal clips and they will sell from £1 to £4.50 and then some collections of 5 for £5

Over the next couple of days I hope to show the last category of gift items I will be selling.

So back soon

Craft Fair Show and Tell No 5

Craft Fair Items No 5

Journals - Junk Journals & Kits

So here we are in the second section of the Craft Show Table. Last post showed you the art books and kite books I would be selling, I only have a few of these the main part of the second section will be showcasing my Journals. I have 2 styles  Journals that are constructed with a laminated cover but inside are quite different. The first has  many different papers, sizes and pockets including doilies vellum tea-stained papers and patterned papers.

These have been made with a vintage feel as I love the shabby chic look of the papers I have used.
Here are some pages inside the albums

This double page inside this journal has been made with 2 envelopes that are embossed and attached by the flaps.. There are a mixture of pretty papers and plain papers for writing notes, ideas and headings for photographs etc.
My Journals are not really ‘Junk Journals’ in the traditional manner as they are fairly clean pages, not torn or magazine pages, old envelopes and recycled packaging, I like to use pretty papers with a cleaner finish. The book can be used as a journal or album or combination, it is just great to have a pretty book to pull out and log your ideas and memories, and add pretty pins and clips to hold your bits and bobs .

So I have made a half dozen of these and I have also made a few kits which have a selection of papers, the laminated cover and lots of papers to make tags, pockets and embellishments for the pages. You can decide what papers to use to fill up your journals and this will decide the type of finish one your book. The pages are stitched in.

These Laminated journals will be on sale from £6.50 each and the kits will be £4.50 each.

As well as these books I have some other journals that i will talk about in my next post
So until then Happy Crafting

Art books: see post from 16 & 18 June 21

Kite book Albums

These books are bright and colourful ways of storing your memories and storing tickets and i other memorabilia.

At the moment I only have one or two albums for sale as I recently sold a couple and albums take a while to make, on average  a week part time, as I do not make them in production line system. Each one is individually made and may be envelope style, folio or traditional album style depending on the papers I am using and the size I want to make. My inspiration can come from seeing an album made on a craft show, wanting to make an album for someone specific or a specific occasion, or seeing one of a number of great crafters on YouTube. Among my favourites on YouTube are:
Jen of Eve Designs
Paul Ford - absolutely love his work
Kathy Orta - One of the original album designers
RosaKellyScarpbooking - Great basic skills for pages in a journal or album

Check out these and other great album makers on Pinterest and YouTube for techniques and ideas for all your books.

Beautiful Bows for the Gift Bags & Boxes

 Hi Crafters

As promised, here are the bows that I have made to sell at the Craft show. They will sit in front of the Trinkets boxes and gift bags.

They have been made with organza and satin ribbons using my Bow Maker (i have several) These were made with the Tattered Lace bow maker and pretty gem centres added to the centre to finish them

The ends of the ribbon have been cut into a V, for an elegant finish.

The bows for the Bank Holiday Fair have been made in summer colours, and I will make more in Christmas colours for the Holiday Fair.

These are quite a substantial size being 5-6” , I have made some smaller ones but these are the most popular. They could be added to a hair clip, or used to finish off a sewn bag, so useful to have in your craft stash.

I will sell them for £1.25 each or 2 for £2

Craft Show items No 2

 Hi Crafters

Today I am showing you my second item for the craft stall.
These gift bags will sit nicely next to the boxes shown previously.

I have a selection of sizes in gift bags

Large - small carrier bag size

Medium - these are a great size 5 3/4” square

Sorry about the quality of the picture but the bags are big enough to gift many different items or a small selection pack of goodies.

Small are just 3” wide 4” high and 1” deep and are perfect for a small perfume, caudal or jewellery.

You may be able to see that I have added some small note-lets and envelopes as I wanted to use them as Thank You gifts.

I make other sizes as well,  once you have a template it is relatively simple to up-size or down-size to your needs. There are different templates used for the small size and these do not fold down. If you want to make bags for a craft show or multiple makes that need to be stored then check out the videos from Sam Calcott who takes you through various sizes and shows you how to make sides that fold down for storage. She also has a great idea for School fetes etc, several of her bags can be made to sit inside each other so you can donate a set of pretty gift bags, or give them as Teacher Gifts.

See my post on the 18.08.20 for the full tutorial on one of these stackable bags made from 8 x 8 pads.

Next up we will be looking at Gift Bows to go on your packages or Gift Bags, so be sure to check in again soon.

Hello to Craft Shows

 Craft Shows

Hello Crafters

Yeah to Craft shows being back with us. I have missed going to the Craft shows in Exeter and the Bath and West show ground which I have attended quite regularly to check out the new craft items, keep up with trends and rejuvenate the inner crafter. Occasionally I would attend Birmingham.

I also have my first Craft Fair booked for August Bank Holiday and I am currently preparing my makes for the table. I have attended Craft Fairs for many years and they are all a learning curve. Craft is my hobby so it is only very local fairs that I attend not the bigger venues as I do not make enough to display at these. Over the years I have learnt to focus my table on specific area of craft, and the fair I am attending at the end of August is strict on all items on your table being hand crafted.

So over August I will be showing you the items I have been making for the show, and at the end of the month I will show my mock up of the table. After the show I will give you a run down of how the items sold and what I shall be doing for the November Fair which will be more geared up to Christmas.

Some of my favourite bloggers and Youtubers are doing Christmas in July videos and I will also talk about any I have seen that may be worthwhile checking out.

For my first show and tell I have a trinket box.

I just love these to make and sell.
They only sell at craft shows as they are not worth posting out. I did try them on Etsy and Ebay, and maybe if I make a collection for Christmas I will try grouping them for sale again, but I am excited to show them at the fair.
I make 3 sizes:
Sml that will take a single chocolate (such as Ferraro ) or would make a perfect ring or brooch box.
Medium will hold pk of chocolates/sweets, bracelet, perfume etc
Large box can be used as a jewellery box, make-up holder,

A pretty way to gift anything.
The boxes are made with origami folds making the base, hot-glued down, this makes a simple open box, it can be used like this,  a lid can be made to finish it.

I decorate the sides with embellishments and finish the lid with a bead top.
These boxes can also be used to store your bits and pieces such as earrings, paperclips etc

Back soon with the next craft show make.

Back to Basics Card No 10 Bookatrix Easel card

Last in series of Back to Basic Cards

Bookatrix Easel Card

Hi Crafters

This last card in the series is an old style with a new twist.

When I started out making paper crafts 15+ years ago and the first Craft programmes came on the tv, there were a couple of ladies called the Glitter Girls who brought out a series of boards that enabled crafters to emboss card without an embossing folder or light-box. You followed a series of lines with a ball tool to make the embossed impressions.

So before I had my SIZZIX Bigshot and boxes of embossing folders and dies I had a collection of these boards. My favourite was the Bookatrix and I enjoyed using it. Then I moved on to dies and folders, and sold my boards on Ebay. Some years later I wanted to have another go at book pages and bought another Bookatrix board to put back into my craft stash.

The other week I was checking out some YouTube videos and saw Sam Calcott making an easel card with the Bookatrix front. I remembered I had a Christmas card made with the Bookatrix board and pulled it out the cupboard, reworked it and added the additional page to make it into an easel card with a Book front.

This has been made with red Mira card, cream card and gold card
The three book pages are 3 sizes (like nesting dies) and have been made from 2 sheets of A4 Red Mira Card and one piece of cream card. The oddments are used to make the base oval layers.

The left side is decorated with Anna Griffin holly leaves and flourish and the right side has been made using a die and gold Mira card.
My book fitted well onto a piece of A4 flat gold card scored at 12cm, 18cm and cut at 24cm.

You may have a Tonic die or Spellbinders page die that would cut the pages for you or some nesting dies that can be scored down through the middle to make your pages. I will link Sam’s video for you to see the process to make it into the easel card

The video takes you through the process to put the easel card together . These cards will fold flat to go into an envelope but it will be a thickness that incurs a large letter charge to post, so is best kept for those cards you give directly. You may also present the card in a box or a box envelope.

Back soon with a series of show and tell of gift boxes, bags, Journals and gift ideas for Craft Shows.
