In March a few of us got together for a half day workshop.
I use to have one a month, but since promotion they have lapsed to about 4 a year.
Card 1
We used chalks to form a background.
I find chalks easier to work with than a brayer.
The background has sky, the sun and ground and then the main theme is stamped in black on top. This can be trees, flowers, street scene. This card was then layered onto the main card and framed with another layer of card to give the appearance of looking into the scene.
Layering like this enables the shape on hte top layer to be cut out by most die cutting machines whereas if you tried to do this on the original 8" x 8" card it woudl requrie a large die cutting machine that has a bed that takes A4 size papers.
We also made tags using the same method. When stamping a collage stamp with a clear stamp pad and then gradually dusting with chalks the picture image appears like magic so it is a great technique to do with crafty children.
We also made a flip top gift box.
On April 16th we will be meeting again to make Pop up cards, Step cards and flowers.
I hope to show those present how to shape the blossoms to make more realistic flowers and then use the flowers to decorate your paper projects. I will report back after the workshop hopefully with pictures of projects made onthe day.
