Isolation Journal - Day 2

Isolation Journal - Day 2

Hi Crafters

Well today for our project we will start to assemble the book you  are making, we are going to put the pages together
  • You will need to cut 5 pieces of paper 7" x 2", I have used the scraps from the 12 x 12 so they coordinate with the envelopes. If you are using envelopes cut them to fit the width of the envelope by 2" wide
  • Fold each piece in half and then mark 1/2" from either end on the fold line cut the ends from the pencil mark to the outside edge so they are tapered.

  • Next take each piece and fold in half again and then concertina the fold as shown in the photograph
  • Open them out again and put strong double sided tape to the 2 outside edges

  • Take the tape off one side,  and using the picture at the top as reference, place the right hand side of the strip to the bottom edge of the envelope
  • Place the next envelope on top of the strip (having removed the tape cover. Be careful to line up the envelopes with the one beneath. Repeat this until all the envelopes are on top of each other.

  • If you find this difficult you could use wet glue but make sure it is a strong glue as these panels will be the opening and closing part of the book so will get a lot of wear.

  • Once you have all six in place, using your strong tape and pritt stick glue the section of the panels that are open so they add an opening layer to the book

  • While we are dealing with the main section of the book , consider how you want to use your flaps, I have stuck down every other flap by gluing it and folding into the envelope. this makes it match the paper and allows a free opening.
Tomorrow we will make the covers
If you have any questions please email me, and I will do my best to answer them.
